The Jogger Pant is spreading all over the market for both men and women. You can walk into any store and they will be displayed in every corner.
What is The Jogger Pant? It is quickly becoming a new category in the fashion industry being described as “casual-contemporary”. These days, for both men and women, it’s all about the tailorness of the pant. The Jogger has a tapered, slim fitting leg, and a casual feel because of the cinched cuffs at the ankles. They aren’t necessarily sweatpants, but they also aren’t a pair of jeans or chinos. This new pant trend provides another option in our closets and is quickly becoming a staple item!
MEN: With the limited silhouettes that are offered to men, The Jogger Pant (Zara) provides another option as something that can be worn as an everyday, casual item, and not just something that’s fashion forward. The result is a dapper pair of pants that are universal in how they can be worn. They are perfect for showing off your awesome sneakers (Steve Madden) while lounging around on the weekends, or, the big trend now for men, is to wear them with dress loafers(Aldo) and a slim fit blazer (Zara) for easy sophistication!
WOMEN: We are the lucky ones when it comes to fashion with endless silhouettes to choose from and to get creative with! I love taking an item and pushing the limits of it. That’s why I thought it would be brilliant to dress my Jogger’s (Cotton On) up with a pair of high heels (Steve Madden) and a tailored crop blazer (Zara)! Easy sophistication… and comfort!
The Jogger Pant offers a new category in fashion for both men and women and because it is universal – it can be worn dressed up or dressed down – this pant is a winner for everyone and is a trend that is going to last for a very long time! So go get yourself a pair and style them… well… anyway you want!
A big thank you to my boyfriend, Marc, for being my “man” model.

Today I talk about my 5 favorite uses for coconut oil – from beauty routines to sex! But first let me talk about the importance of the quality of coconut oil. Not all coconut oils are created equal and this plays a major role in the purity of the oil.
Words to stay away from when selecting your coconut oil (and other oils):
1. Refined: this typically means that the oil is extracted using solvents like bleaching and deodorizing. Not good! This process ruins the purity of the oil and leaves you with a rancid oil – you do not want to be putting this on your skin or cooking with it!
2. Hydrogenated: Basically it means it’s not edible. Just gross. Stay away!
3. Liquid Coconut Oil: This is a new marketing term. Coconut oil becomes solid in colder temperatures and melts when heated. Liquid coconut oil is marketed as always staying liquid, even at colder temperatures. Stay away! This oil is highly refined.
Words to look for when selecting your coconut oil (and other oils):
1. Virgin: This is a process of pressing the oil out rather than chemically extracting it. This is good, but, this term is not regulated yet, so some manufacturers may use this term to try to trick consumer into buying an oil that is actually refined. Research the company.
2. Cold Pressed: This is better than Expeller Pressed because the oil is extracted at lower temperatures, keeping the integrity of the oil and leaving it with a mild flavor. Note: You may see labels with “Expeller Pressed”. This is okay, but the oil has been extracted at a higher temperature and can degrade the quality of it, as well as leave a more nutty flavor, making it less desirable to cook with.
3. Organic: Actually, save your money. Coconuts are non-GMO and no pesticides are used on them. So it really isn’t necessary to chose Organic, but that’s up to you.
My favorite coconut oil on the market is Tropical Traditions. They are a small family owned company that do things right!
#1. Makeup Remover:
Coconut oil is amazing for removing tough makeup like mascara! I use a cotton square, get it moist with water (this helps to loosen the makeup so it’s not dried) and then a dab of coconut oil. Apply to the eye area and gently rub.
The makeup comes right off! It’s cheap, non-toxic, doesn’t sting, and leaves the delicate skin around the eye area moisturized (won’t clog pores)! This is my absolute favorite use for coconut oil!
#2. Non-Toxic Deodorant:
Coconut oil is antimicrobial and great for neutralizing odors!
Most of us know by now that deodorants can be filled with toxic chemicals, including aluminum. There is much controversy over these products and their relation to causing cancer. I opt to stay away from them! So I make my own deodorant using a simple concoction of fresh lemon juice and coconut oil. I just cut a small lemon segment and dab it under my arms. It can sting just a little, especially if you have just shaved, but it doesn’t bother me. I then use a bit of coconut oil (takes the sting away) and there you have it! You can also make a mixture of these ingredients and add some baking soda (make sure it is aluminum free). Some people claim that the lemon juice changes the PH balance of your skin, but for me, that is a small price to pay compared to using highly toxic deodorants. I will warn you though, this method may not be the best option when wearing a white shirt…
If you don’t want to make your own deodorant, try this one.
#3. Non-Toxic Toothpaste:
Toothpaste can also be filled with toxic chemicals, including fluoride. Again, I opt for using a different method to avoid exposing myself to these toxins. Coconut oil is great for brushing your teeth! I mix coconut oil, baking soda, and peppermint extract. That’s it! This mixture keeps my teeth pearly white! Add as much or as little coconut oil to the baking soda to get your desired consistency. Store in a dark glass jar.
#4. Massage Oil:
Coconut oil makes the best massage oil! A little dab goes a long way and lasts forever! It is also extremely nourishing for the skin. No need to use lotions that dry up in seconds and make it so you have to keep applying them. Plus, most lotions are filled with toxic chemicals. Coconut oil is also great to use an all over body moisturizer. But do beware that it is still an oil and may stain your clothes or sheets.
* #5. Personal Lubricant:
Yes, that’s right, coconut oil is the new lube!
Even I was skeptical at first, wondering if it was safe to go… up inside? I have concluded, yes, it’s perfectly safe!
Coconut oil is all-natural and doesn’t contain any preservatives… and it is very lubricating. I have also read online that it is anti-fungal and may even help with things like yeast infections. But you must choose a high-quality oil! You do not want to be putting rancid, chemically extracted oil up inside of you.
*PLEASE USE CAUTION WHEN USING COCONUT OIL WITH LATEX CONDOMS*
Most oils are chemically extracted and are rancid before they even hit the shelves. Rancid oil can easily erode the surface of a latex condom. Which can lead to breaks in the condom.
I personally have tested high-quality coconut oil on latex condoms. The first time I did it I rubbed the oil all over a spare condom and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Then I took the condom and stretched it and pulled it to see if it would become weak, tear or break… it didn’t. I then took it a step further and cautiously used the oil during intimacy… the condom still didn’t break. Now I keep a small glass jar of coconut oil next to my bed… we never have a problem. But please do your own testing before trusting this method.
There are so many uses for coconut oil. It is the best oil for cooking with at high temperatures. Additionally, it is a medium-chain fatty acid, which means it metabolizes quickly in the body and won’t be stored as fat! It is full of antioxidants, and when consumed internally, it can help with things like digestion and can improve the appearance of your skin.
So what are you waiting for? Get out there and get some coconut oil and start having fun!
* Many people are allergic to coconut. Please do not try these methods if you are allergic to coconut and be sure to test the oil on small portions of your skin before using.
As I grow older I have learned to become more knowledgeable about my health. I’ve learned not to trust marketing and to do my own research. I research everything that I put in my body and everything that I put on my body. I read the ingredients in everything I buy. Yes, I’m that girl standing in the grocery store aisle, reading.
I recently switched my makeup products to Alima Pure mineral makeup because their products are non-toxic, have no preservatives, are not tested on animals, and are affordable! Check out theiringredients page. Nothing feels better than knowing that when I put on my makeup every morning, I’m not slathering toxic chemicals all over my face or inhaling them. When I go to kiss and hug my boyfriend, it puts my mind at ease to know that I’m not exposing him to harmful toxins.
So far I am very happy with the products I have incorporated into my beauty routine!
A few weeks ago my boyfriend and I took a trip up to Big Bear mountains for the weekend. How lucky for us that we have a friend who just bought this amazing A-frame cabin and she literally gave us the key to the place! Finally, a chance to get out of the crazy city and escape to the crisp, fresh air, way up high in the mountain tops. It was so quiet, we could hear the wind blowing, and although that might not seem like a big deal, it was music to our ears. We actually went up there ready to hit the slopes for a full day of snowboarding, but we quickly realized that this little escape of ours was something that needed to be cherished. So instead, we got the fire burning and cracked open the Malbec – we were going to have ourselves a welcomed case of cabin fever! It was the laziest of days, cozied up in front of the fire, with a whole lotta giggles…
The architecture of the A-frame cabin with its angled wood roof, beautiful natural lighting, and amazing blue shag carpet inspired a great setting to shoot my look!
